Federal Councillor Karin Keller-Sutter to attend meeting of EU's Economic and Financial Affairs Council
Bern, 14.09.2026 — On 19 September 2026, Federal Councillor Karin Keller-Sutter will attend the informal meeting of the EU's Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) in Ireland. The purpose of the meeting is to promote exchanges on international financial and tax issues.
Federal Councillor Karin Keller-Sutter will attend meetings of finance and economics ministers in Dublin at the invitation of the Irish ECOFIN presidency. Discussions will centre on economic developments, financial stability, and the risks and opportunities associated with technological change and geopolitical developments. The Swiss finance minister will also use the informal Council meeting as an opportunity to hold bilateral talks with her ministerial counterparts.
No decisions are taken during the semi-annual informal meetings of the ECOFIN Council; instead, they provide a forum for an open exchange of views between the heads of finance ministries and central bank governors. The current Council presidency organises these meetings in its own country.
