Project Description

The overall goal of the project is to strengthen the National Health Research System. Firstly the project raises awareness for the need of information and evidence about health issues. Secondly, it contributes to the human capital development of Tajik young researchers and health professionals.

Three strategies had been defined to reach the overall goal:

• Develop a health research profile of Tajikistan, which should include information on the current health care system (available human resources, gaps and needs).
• Develop capacity of young researchers and health professionals.
• Raise awareness of key stakeholders in policymaking and health sector reform. The Project provides national actors with a baseline document that can guide them in discussions on why and where to invest in research, but also on how to optimise investments from international agencies.

Objectives

The project aims to:

• The development of evidence-based information helping health policy and planning.
• The strength of the human resources needed to effectively prioritize, manage and implement relevant research.
