Project Description
The Romanian health system is still undergoing profound transformations and does not yet provide comprehensive health services. In this situation access to emergency care is of utmost importance to the general population. For this reason, starting with 1994, Swiss cooperation has been deeply involved in the reform of the emergency medical services in Romania.
The project developed in four phases providing medical and communication equipment (phase 1 and 2) training (phase 3) and has put into place a modern chain of life support starting from the call to the integrated dispatch (112) until the reception of the patient in the hospital. In phase 4 the project aims to develop the training system in emergency medical care and the quality of the emergency medical services already put into place both at local and national levels.
Objectives
The objective of the program is to contribute to extend the quality and the availability of emergency aid through the modernisation of the emergency system in Romania. As a consequence the Remssy project aims to develop regional integrated emergency systems, building on the already existing institutions and skills.
