Project description

The project aims at strengthening the capacity of the Ministry of Health to better coordinate donors' activities in the country.

In order to improve the effectiveness of the ongoing Health Sector Reform SDC is supporting the Ministry of Health for a limited period of two years with the establishment of a "Health Sector Reform - Secretariat”.

The task of the latter is to coordinate the diverse donors' intervention by calling in quarter-yearly meetings and to increase harmonization amongst them by providing continuously comprehensive information. The better use of donors' technical assistance will strengthen the role that the Ministry of Health can play in its dialogue with other actors, be it outside of the Government of Tajikistan or within.

Objectives

• Efficiency of health care reform is improved through better coordination of available resources.
• A step toward strong policy dialogue between key sectors to achieve health MDGs is undertaken.
