Community Health Care Project

General objectives
- To inform and involve communities in measures to promote their well-being.
- To build the capacities of health professionals, local health institutions and community-based volunteers.
- To ensure sustainable and uninterrupted supply of essential drugs through a model that is financially and institutionally sustainable.
- To ensure that the communities’ health needs are being communicated back to the Department of Health.
- To increase collaboration with NGO’s partners working to achieve similar objectives in health care in Tajikistan.
These objectives comply with the priorities defined by the Tajik Government for the health sector.
Objectives
- Ensure that health and hygiene promotion interventions offered by Community Health Promoters (CHP) are operating successfully and in a sustainable way throughout GBAO.
- Provide training to Community Health Promoters (CHP) and Public Health Centres (PHC) staff to allow them to both implement and sustain health interventions.
- Support the Healthy Lifestyles Centre to strengthen its health and hygiene promotion programme.
- Build links between the community and the formal health system.
- Share experiences (lessons learned) exchange of technical assistance and joint participation in workshops at national level.

Project description
The goal of the project is to improve the health status of the community in general and the health of children under five years and women of reproductive age in particular.
