Factsheet Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative

This fact sheet presents the Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative (REPSSI), a regional non-profit organisation designed to mitigate the psychosocial impact of HIV and AIDS, poverty, and conflict among children and youth from 13 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa.

Factsheet SolidarMed Antiretroviral Treatment Project

This fact sheet presents SMART (SolidarMed Antiretroviral Treatment) programme. The goal of this program is to strengthen the local health systems of nine rural districts in Tanzania, Mozambique, Lesotho and Zimbabwe, as well as to integrate voluntary counselling and testing, antiretroviral treatment, activities to prevent HIV transmission from the mother to the child, and home based care into routine health service provision. Solidarmed builds on established partnerships and cooperation in these districts with local hospitals and health administrations.

Netcell final report phase 1

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has supported the Netcell ITN Upscaling Project with the aim to “support national upscaling of ITNs in Tanzania through the strengthening of the ITN cell within the National Malaria Control Programme”. The Netcell Project Phase 1 has been successful to a large extent in meeting its main objectives and the agreed performance indicators (as indicated in the table below), although retreatment of nets to make them an ITN remains a challenge. The partnership under the NATNETS Programme is working well.

The multisectoral approach - A focus on Africa

Access to drugs

Many of the issues surrounding the accessibility of medicines in low income countries can only be addressed with concerted national and international action. In this paper we consider the issues of accessibility and availability of pharmaceuticals in international health, and describe the initiatives that have been taken by SDC to address them in Tanzania and Mozambique.
