SDC's Strategic Priorities in Health
In its overall endeavour to strengthen pro poor health systems in partner countries the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation focuses its bilateral, multilateral and humanitarian health cooperation on a set of five priorities.
SDC's strategic priorities are:
- Strengthening Good Governance of Health Systems
- Developing Pro Poor Health Services
- Empowerment of Communities and Users of Health Services
- Control of major Communicable Diseases
- Improving Reproductive Health
These priorities are based on an assessment of the global context, an analysis of the established expertise and comparative advantages of SDC and its potential to have an impact on the health of the poor. The portfolio of SDC country programmes is elaborated on the basis of a local context analysis and the expressed priorities of partners and beneficiaries, using SDC's priorities as a guiding framework [9].
